VR Résumé Template

We have included a sample résumé layout for your reference. This is the default content from a Vision-Résumé which includes an introduction section, not typically found on a regular paper résumé.

Note: there are many formats for résumés and you may choose to use a format completely different from this sample. The Vision-Résumé tool allows you to be as creative as you like with your résumé content.

Introduction

This section is best used to give some insight into who you are and why you are looking for an opportunity.  Most résumés don't allow for a description of yourself, but you can show a little character here.  Don't make it any longer than two paragraphs.

Objective

In one or two sentences, explain your specific career goal(s) or convey to the reader what job title you are looking for.

To increase your objective statement's impact, add a sentence about why you are qualified or how you can help the company achieve a goal.

Experience

List Your Most Marketable Skill (related to this opportunity)
  • List most impressive achievement using this skill followed by the employer's name, city and state
  • List second most impressive achievement using this skill with employer information (if different form first employer)
  • List third achievement (it is usually best to present information, particularly bullet points, in groups of three)
List Your Second Most Marketable Skill (related to this opportunity)

Or, instead of using the above functional format, you can list employment in chronological order.  For example:

2000 - Present   Job Title
          Employer name   City, State
  • List most impressive achievement while working at this job
  • List second most impressive achievement while working at this job
  • List third most impressive achievement while working at this job
1996 - 2000   Job Title
          Employer name   City, State
  • List most impressive achievement while working at this job
  • List second most impressive achievement while working at this job
  • List third most impressive achievement while working at this job

List Second Highest Degree Earned

usually you only need to list collegiate and high school education

Skill Category 2 (i.e. Project Management)

note: it is always a good idea to include computer skills, any language skills, and other basic skills.  List the most impressive skills first.
